Articles should hold to a Roman Catholic Point of View (CPOV) which fundamentally asserts that there is an objective right and wrong as presented by the teaching (Magisterium) of the Roman Catholic Church.

In the case of issues dealing with faith or morality, articles should portray the teaching of the Catholic Church as defined by the Magisterium, with specific references to that teaching, where possible. This is not the place to dispute the correctness, legitimacy or modern appropriateness of that teaching, nor to advocate dissenting views.

For example:

  1. Good - "Artificial birth control is objectively a grave matter as defined in [Humanae Vitae]..."
  2. Bad - "Artificial birth control is considered by many Catholics to be a grave matter..."

How to present dissenting views

It is not our intent to squash dissenting views through censorship. We, through the virtue of charity, respect the opinions and beliefs of all individuals, including those of other religious and moral understanding, but we, in obedience, are bound to not accept those opinions and beliefs, but rather to hold to the teaching of the Magisterium. Articles should not advocate positions contrary to the Church’s; however, they may present that there are common dissenting arguments in a Thomist fashion.

Guidelines for Biblical Texts

  1. Please be respectful of existing copyright when presenting Biblical Texts.
  2. Use Wiki numbering with the # to auto-generate verse numbers.
  3. Please identify what version of the Bible you are using.
  4. If there is no article describing the version you are using, in particular right to use and/or copyright, please create it.

Anno Domini calendar

Dates in The Catholic Wiki Project are expressed using the Anno Domini calendar. Thus "A.D. 2007", rather than "2007 C.E.".

Jesus Christ

When referring to Jesus, it is acceptable to use the title "Christ". Furthermore, pronouns referring to Him should be capitalised.
